Bianca Brackenridge
National NAIDOC Person Award CategoryMs Bianca Brackenridge is a proud Kuku-Yalanji, Jirrbal and Juru woman. Bianca’s clothing company, BRACKS Indigenous Clothing, has been immensely successful, growing rapidly in the 10 years since its inception.
Bianca has travelled across Australia to sell her products and grow her brand and has become an important supplier for schools, health services, and other organisations throughout Australia. Bianca has demonstrated her dedication to supporting the community countless times, providing charitable contributions to hospitals, sporting clubs and other organisations.
Bianca is recognised by her community for her commitment to uplifting and empowering others. With the help of her team of like-minded women, Bianca runs community events and youth mentorship programs.
Bianca Brackenridge exemplifies the strength, creativity and ingenuity of First Nations Australians in everything she does.
When asked what drives her work, Bianca states:“Having no children my six nephews are my focus for investment. I hope that I can inspire them by showing them there is a space for Black businesses. I want to open and expand the minds of our new generations and let them know that they too can have futures in business and entrepreneurship. I want to be the best role model and to encourage and empower my mob.
This world is for future generations to explore and our people have every right to be there like every other person in Australia and the world. We have so much to offer around our cultural strengths that we must share this with the world. It is our responsibility to begin the journey.”
