Yarns in the Courtyard
We’ve been learning a lot working with the lovely folk at Yalinguth, in understanding more about the important history of the pub and the incredible connection it has to our First Nations Peoples and the Fitzroy community. If you haven’t had the opportunity yet, we encourage you to explore their audio app, which takes you on an immersive tour of Fitzroy, guided by captivating sounds and stories that help to connect you with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history of the area and reflects the oral traditions of their culture. On Wednesday 6th of July, we’re hosting ‘Yarns in the Courtyard,’ a special collaboration with Yalinguth and community of elders. Join us in the courtyard for stories, songs and reflections of the Aboriginal history and social significance of our pub. WITH: Acoustic songs from Uncle Bart Willoughby Conversation from Uncle Bobby Nicholls Yarns from Uncle Gary Murray, Aunty Rieo Ellis and Aunty Denise McGuinness So grab a beer, head outside, stand by the fire, and listen to the songs and stories of our history.

Welcome to NAIDOC.

We acknowledge all First Peoples of the beautiful lands on which we live and celebrate their enduring knowledge and connections to Country. We honour the wisdom of and pay respect to Elders past and present.
