Top End Wedding - Dementia Friendly Screening

Join us for this NAIDOC Week Screening of TOP END WEDDING!

This warm and light-hearted comedy celebrates the joyful chaos of family and the strength of community. It follows Lauren, a successful Sydney lawyer, and her fiancé Ned as they prepare for their wedding.

Just one day before the big event, they’re stunned to discover that Lauren’s mother has run away. Determined to reunite her parents and still pull off the wedding of their dreams, the couple sets off on a spirited journey across the Top End of the Northern Territory in search of her.

Written by Larrakia and Tiwi actress Miranda Tapsell, TOP END WEDDING was warmly received by both audiences and critics. The film earned nominations at the AACTA Awards for Best Film, Best Actress (Tapsell), and Best Supporting Actress (Ursula Yovich). Its beloved characters return in 2025 in a brand new eight-part television series, Top End Bub.

ABOUT DEMENTIA FRIENDLY SCREENINGS:
A Day at the Movies is a thoughtfully selected film series for people living with dementia alongside their families, friends, carers and companions. The screenings are brought to you by film and media experts Dr Jodi Brooks (Project Lead, University of New South Wales), Dr Fincina Hopgood (University of New England), and independent screen culture and audience development specialist Karina Libbey.

An initiative of the ACT Government, the program is funded by the ACT Government and aligns with its Age-Friendly City Plan. In-kind support from the National Film and Sound Archive (Venue Partner), Carers ACT, Dementia Australia, the ACT Ministerial Advisory Council on Ageing and Bulla Dairy Foods.

Discounted group bookings are available for groups of 6 or more. Carers receive a free ticket, courtesy of Carers ACT, and all attendees can enjoy a complimentary Bulla ice cream.
