First Nations Books Pop Up Store

Join us in celebrating 50 Years of Deadly with a First Nations books pop-up featuring a curated selection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authored titles published by Indigenous Literacy Foundation, Hachette Australia and Magabala Books.

We invite you to come along to browse the collection and engage in meaningful conversations with Hachette Australia’s team, who are volunteering their time to share insights and recommendations. This is a chance to honour truth‑telling and elevate First Nations voices through the stories they choose to share.
The profits from book sales directly support ILF’s programs.

ABOUT THE ILF
The ILF is a Community-led organisation, responding to requests from remote Communities for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.
The ILF is thankful for the generous support from Hachette Australia, Magabala Books, and Cromwell Property Group.

This event also aligns with Hachette’s Raising Readers initiative, which aims to raise global awareness of the decline in children reading for pleasure and encourage reading as a vital part of a child's daily life. Research shows that reading for enjoyment is one of the strongest predictors of a child's future outcomes, influencing educational achievement, wellbeing, communication skills, and life opportunities. Reading with a child for just ten minutes a day can help establish a lifelong reading habit.

Welcome to NAIDOC.
