3. 2024 NAIDOC Ball

   Southern Aboriginal Corporation are holding their annual NAIDOC Ball in July this year, celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Great Southern.

4. Charlestown Square NAIDOC Week Weaving Workshops

   Speaking in Colour will be hosting a free weaving round table, where customers are able to create a collaborative 3D sculpture (Eagle) that will be displayed in Charlestown Square.

   In addition, NAIDOC themed colouring in posters for children to decorate and take home.

5. Colour and Culture

   In this special arts activity for young people, Justin Martin from Djurundi Dreaming will give children an introduction to Aboriginal art techniques, while sharing local stories and Noongar culture. Suitable for ages 5 and up.

   With Special Guest and Keynote Speaker Aunty Professor Henrietta Marrie AM Elder of the Gimuy Walubara clan of the Yidinji People and Traditional Owner Heal Country!

7. NAIDOC Week Preschool Storytime

   In this special holiday storytime, children will learn about NAIDOC Week. We will be reading books from Indigenous Authors and Illustrators. At the end of the session, participants will have the opportunity to complete a craft activity to take home.

8. FareShare NAIDOC celebrations

   Special Meals for the Mob NAIDOC celebration! We’re excited to share updates on our First Nations initiatives and the recent expansion of our “Meals for the Mob” program. This program continues to provide nutritious meals to those in need within First Nations communities.
   

9. Community Morning Tea 'For Our Elders'
   Special Morning Tea to honour local Elders, with guest speaker footballer Chance Bateman, celebration cake, unveiling of a new Acknowledgement to Country notice [in an unusual format!]. A community artwork and mini-biographies will be made on the day by Noongar artist to honour Elders. All Welcome.

10. NAIDOC Week Storytime

    In this special NAIDOC Week Storytime, we celebrate the culture and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through their stories. Recommended for children aged 2-8.
