Tree of Hands
NAIDOC Week held from 3-10 July 2022, is an opportunity for all of us to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on Earth. At Warwick Art Gallery, you are invited to reflect on this year’s theme ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’ and decorate a handprint in colours, words and designs to acknowledge the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Cut out your handprint and add it to the “Tree of Hands”. Our “Tree of Hands” pays homage to the “Sea of Hands” which has long been an iconic symbol of solidarity with First Nations peoples and a way for communities from around Australia to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues and events.

Welcome to NAIDOC.

We acknowledge all First Peoples of the beautiful lands on which we live and celebrate their enduring knowledge and connections to Country. We honour the wisdom of and pay respect to Elders past and present.
