NAIDOC Flame Ceremony

Join us for the 2024 NAIDOC Flame Ceremony, a Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) event to acknowledge and celebrate our First Nations culture and their rich tapestry of traditions as part of this year's NAIDOC theme 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud'.
Hosted by the NT Government Departments in conjunction with the Alice Springs Town Council and Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation, the NAIDOC Flame Ceremony will include a fire lighting and smoking ceremony, the planting of a native tree in the town centre, and live CAAMA radio broadcast which will include interviews and storytelling.
The tree planting serves to symbolise a connection to country and acknowledge the traditional use of fire in caring for the land, in providing warmth and food and to recognise its use in ceremonial events with healing and medicinal elements.
All NT Government, Alice Springs Town Council and Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation staff and members of the public are encouraged to attend and show their support. The event will include a Welcome to Country, Fire and Smoking Ceremony, Traditional Dancers, speeches and a free sausage sizzle.
Come along to help celebrate our First Nations people at this NAIDOC event.

Welcome to NAIDOC.

We acknowledge all First Peoples of the beautiful lands on which we live and celebrate their enduring knowledge and connections to Country. We honour the wisdom of and pay respect to Elders past and present.
