The theme of NAIDOC Week 2024 is “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.”, honouring the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
AHV’s NAIDOC Family Day at the Farm is held annually at Collingwood Children’s Farm. The event is a family-friendly day that is free for Aboriginal Housing tenants, their families and the wider community. It features live performance from Kee’ahn, the Djirri Djirri dancers, a dance workshop with the Indigenous Outreach Project, a football clinic, a range of traditional cultural arts and crafts, an exhibition of art from our renters, information stalls from a variety of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and a free BBQ!
This event provides an opportunity for community members to come together and celebrate the significant contribution made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to our community, our families, our history and our nation.
Our NAIDOC event in 2023 attracted over 2000 attendees and we expect to exceed this in 2024.
