Throughout NAIDOC week, Screenarts and the State Library will show the award winning animated series The Dreaming. The stories share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge about Country, society and behaviour, lore and respect for cultural diversity. The animations will be played daily in the Library, creating a space for children and adults alike to drop by and hear about Indigenous knowledge, language, and culture. To produce this series a team of Aboriginal artists were trained in the techniques of traditional and computer assisted animation. Each story was then researched in-depth so that the animators could accurately portray the cultural content. The stories were sourced from many communities, and permission to share them and animate them was obtained from various community Elders & community Councils. Please note: This video may contain the names, voices and faces of people who are now deceased, which may cause distress to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers. We ask that you please use care when viewing and navigating this content.

Welcome to NAIDOC.

We acknowledge all First Peoples of the beautiful lands on which we live and celebrate their enduring knowledge and connections to Country. We honour the wisdom of and pay respect to Elders past and present.
