We would like to warmly welcome you to attend our NAIDOC Week event in keeping with the theme Keep the Fire Burning! Blak Loud and Proud, which will be held over the entire week. Our aim is to keep the fire burning using traditional methods from sunrise to sunset for the entire NAIDOC Week!

Opening and Official Fire Lighting Ceremony

Date: Sunday, 7th July
Time: 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

For a traditional lighting of the fire.
Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.
Mayoral Speech by Amanda Findlay.
Didge playing & Singing down the sun.
Fire - our heart - Words from Community.
Come along and keep the fire burning sunrise to sunset during NAIDOC week.
We will be set up at the top of Nowra Showgrounds Wood Chop Arena, overlooking the Shoalhaven River.

From Mon July 8th - 14th, Fire Keeping Hours: 7:00 am to 5:00 pm each day
Traditional Fire Lighting Demonstrations: 10:30 am and 2:00 pm each day
Please come join us to warm up around the fire, share stories, catch up with old friends, make connections, have a cuppa, or just admire the fire.

There will be tents set up, if you are from Aboriginal community and have anything you would like to share or sell, or even any printed information or flyers for the community, please let us know or bring them up. We would love to provide space to display these for you.

Join us as we come together to celebrate and honor Culture and traditions.
