Nominations are now open for the National NAIDOC Awards!

Do you know someone who has improved the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their communities and beyond? Then nominate them for a NAIDOC Award!

The National NAIDOC Committee invites nominations of outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for the 2019 NAIDOC Awards.

“These prestigious Awards are an opportunity to recognise individuals who are the cornerstone of our communities, who have contributed their talents, skills, ideas and lives to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.” says NAIDOC Co-Chair Pat Thompson.

There are ten National Award categories to nominate for:

  • Apprentice of the Year
  • Artist of the Year
  • Caring for Country Award
  • Elder of the Year (Male)
  • Elder of the Year (Female)
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Person of the Year
  • Scholar of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Youth of the Year

Award winners will be honoured at the National NAIDOC Awards Ceremony in Canberra on Saturday 6 July 2019.

Nominations are open now and will close - 5:00pm (AEDT) Friday 29 March 2019.

NAIDOC Week 2019 will run nationally from 7-14 July 2019 and is an occasion for all Australians to come together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - the oldest continuing cultures on the planet.
