Volume presents: Lightning song

Celebrating some of the most electric First Nations musicians working today, 'Volume presents: Lightning song' coincides with NAIDOC Week and the landmark exhibition 'Yolŋu power: the art of Yirrkala' at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Featuring live performances by renowned and emerging superstars, the night is headlined by Yolŋu surf rockers King Stingray. Luritja musician Keanu Nelson will bring a passionate blend of homespun dub music by way of Papunya in the Northern Territory, and Wergaia/Wemba Wemba indie-songwriter Alice Skye will bring her unique form of confessional bedroom rock to the Art Gallery.

Also, the premiere of a new music composition by Bundjalung/Lama Lama singer-songwriter Kev Carmody will be played at various locations in Naala Badu throughout the night. The song ‘CarnavonGirraweenBunyas’ will take listeners on an immersive 30-minute journey through Country, led by one of our greatest living songwriters.
