Sunshine Coast Council NAIDOC Flag Raising 2023

To celebrate NAIDOC 2023, Sunshine Coast Council invites community to attend it’s annual flag raising ceremony. This civic event showcases the Sunshine Coast First Nations community by highlighting the significance of First Nations connection to Country, their values and their culture. NAIDOC stands for the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee. It is a significant week in the Australian calendar, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week happens each year between the first and second Sundays in July. PLEASE REGISTER FOR THIS FREE EVENT. Proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council. The theme for NAIDOC Week 2023 is For Our Elders. NAIDOC 2023 invites the nation to embrace First Nations’ cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia's national heritage and equally respect the culture and values of First Nations peoples as they do the cultures and values of all Australians. Hosted at the Nambour Library Forecourt, the NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony 2023 will include special First Nations performances and presentations and a dedicated Elders tent and morning tea.
