Straight White Men
Two parts comedy, one part political drama, 'Straight White Men' follows Ed and his three adult sons as they come together to celebrate the holiday season. They enjoy cheerful trash-talking, pranks, and takeout Chinese, then confront a problem that even being a happy family can’t solve: when identity matters, and privilege is problematic, what is the value of being a straight white man? “‘Straight White Men’ is a family drama that on the surface looks fairly standard, but the play transcends psychological realism. [Playwright] Lee is wrestling with the meaning of straight white male privilege through characters who are self-conscious beneficiaries of an identity increasingly out of favor in [the] 21st century…” Presented in the round, audiences are invited to don their jingle bells for Christmas in July and a dysfunctional (but funny) family get together. Starring Evan Hollis, Tristan James, Justin Tamblyn and Brendan Thomas-Ryland.
