Story Time with Helen Milroy

Join Dr Helen Milroy for a warm and engaging children’s story time session featuring her newly released picture book Beach Buddies, launched in June 2026, as part of NAIDOC Week celebrations. Young listeners will enjoy a lively reading that introduces Australian beach creatures through colourful illustrations and gentle storytelling.

Written by the Palyku author and creator of the much‑loved Backyard series, Beach Buddies is a fun and educational early‑reader book. From sparkling starfish to puffed‑up blowfish, the story encourages curiosity about animals children might discover at the beach.

Dr Milroy is a descendant of the Palyku people of the Pilbara region of Western Australia and was born and educated in Perth.

Recommended for children aged 3–6 years.
