Join us in the lead up to NAIDOC Week for a conversation with award-winning musicians Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse. Gina and Guy use their music and performance to highlight one of the world’s most rare and beautiful languages, the Noongar language of the southern corner of Western Australia.
The conversation will explore how First Nations peoples are reclaiming their stories, and the importance of language survival post-colonisation. Language remains a way for First Nations people to connect to the past, present and future. Bringing together ancient language, contemporary music, stunning vocals, poignant stories and guitar brilliance, Gina and Guy’s mission is to be catalysts for a hopeful future, as they rewrite the script through song.
Facilitated by D’harawal man, climate advocate and former ambassador and high commissioner Gregory Andrews, the conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and a 30-minute musical experience in Noongar language.
