NAIDOC Week Kick-Off: Carindale

NAIDOC Week Kick-Off: Community Weaving Circle (Free Event)

Join us as we come together to kick off NAIDOC Week 2026 with a meaningful and immersive Community Weaving Circle, hosted by Elephant in the Room Consulting. Set in the beautiful surrounds of Roma Street Parklands, this special event invites you to slow down, connect, and experience the richness of First Nations culture in a hands-on and accessible way.

Guided by proud Bundjalung woman Jenni Walke, you’ll learn traditional weaving techniques while gaining insight into the stories, cultural knowledge, and significance behind the practice. More than just a creative activity, weaving is a powerful way to connect - across culture, community, and shared experience.

Whether you’re attending as an individual, with friends, or as part of a team, this event offers a unique opportunity to step away from the everyday and engage more deeply with culture ahead of NAIDOC Week. It’s a chance to reflect, learn, and begin the week with intention, respect, and connection.

What makes this experience special?

A genuine, culturally grounded experience

Hands-on learning paired with storytelling and cultural insight

An opportunity to connect with others in a relaxed, welcoming outdoor setting

A meaningful way to begin NAIDOC Week with your team or community

Places are limited to ensure an intimate and impactful experience, so we encourage you to secure your spot early. Register here: https://events.humanitix.com/naidoc-week-community-weaving-circle
