Experience one of Australia’s first known cross-cultural truth-telling walking tours, led by two guides from different cultural backgrounds.
Delivered by Hidden deTours in collaboration with In Culture Tours, the Moordiboordip Cultural Tour brings together Whadjuk Noongar guide Steven Jacobs and Hidden deTours founder Monique Boucher to share Rockingham’s history through both First Nations and early European perspectives.
This immersive walking tour along the Rockingham Foreshore uses silent disco technology and a musical soundscape to bring Noongar stories, history and culture to life. Guests will experience a Welcome to Country, smoking ceremony and sand ceremony on the beach, before continuing along the foreshore to learn about the significance of Moordiboordip, Dreamtime stories of the Derbal Nara, Aboriginal lore and culture, skin groups, bush medicine and local food procurement.
With truth-telling at its heart, this tour explores the impacts of colonisation, creating space for respectful conversation, deeper understanding and a greater appreciation of our shared history. It is a powerful opportunity to listen, learn and gain a deeper understanding of the world’s oldest living culture and the local stories that have shaped Rockingham.
