Maali Festival
CURATED BY IAN MICHAEL AND CHLOE OGILVIE Set over two incredible days of NAIDOC Week, curators Ian Michael (Wilman Nyoongar) and Chloe Ogilvie (Yamatji Nhanda) bring us a festival reclaiming the State Theatre Centre in Maali, named after the Nyoongar word for black swan. In an act of celebration, community and gathering this multi-disciplinary arts festival will acknowledge and celebrate the incredible breadth and diversity of the world’s oldest living cultures. From traditional dance to a return of the groundbreaking play Bindjareb Pinjarra, with musical acts including electronic duo Electric Fields, Maali is both a connection to a place before, and a look towards the future.

Welcome to NAIDOC.

We acknowledge all First Peoples of the beautiful lands on which we live and celebrate their enduring knowledge and connections to Country. We honour the wisdom of and pay respect to Elders past and present.
