'Gabul Jagun – Carpet Snake Country' an exhibition by Arakwal Bundjalung artist Nickolla Clark
‘Gabul Jagun – Carpet Snake Country’ is an exhibition showcasing aspects of Arakwal Country in the Byron Shire through the perspective of Nickolla Clark, an Arakwal Bundjalung artist living and working on Country. Nickolla's practice highlights her instinctive and sacred connection to Country through symbols, features and knowledge passed down through many generations. ‘Gabul' refers to the totem of the Arakwal people, the Carpet Snake and ‘Jagun' is Country, a reflection of the land we live and care for. The works evoke feelings of cultural insight and gratitude towards Country. Giving and receiving ‘Garimaa’ – Respect. The exhibition continues until the 30 July and the Gallery is open Wed to Sat 10am – 4pm. Image: Nickolla Clark in her exhibition at Lone Goat Gallery 2022, photo by Jaka Adamic.
