Film Screening: Black Divaz
Film Screening: Black Divaz
Black Divaz follows the contestants competing in the inaugural Miss First Nations Pageant. In between the lip syncs and crocodile-themed photoshoots, the queens talk candidly about what brought them to drag. This one-of-a-kind documentary celebrates drag as an art form through the lens of Australian Indigeneity. It sheds light on important social issues surrounding Indigenous politics, queer identity, and overcoming personal tragedies. Audience is restricted to ages 15+ (unless accompanied by a guardian). Black Divaz is presented as part of the Reconciliation Film Club (an initiative of SBS, NITV and Reconciliation Australia). Bookings close at midday on the day of screening.
