Celebrating NAIDOC in Merredin

Monday 6 July | 10:30am – 12:30pm
NAIDOC Week Community BBQ

The event will feature:
A Welcome to Country
Traditional Smoking Ceremony
Sea of Hands unveiling (a community art project done by students in local schools) 
Community sausage sizzle

Amity Health will be hosting a marquee with information and activities, including a NAIDOC-inspired playdough table for children. We are also pleased to welcome Kamia Australia, an Indigenous-owned business, who will have a stall showcasing and selling beautiful homewares.
Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate together.

Free NRL Rugby League Clinic

The NRL is coming to Merredin to deliver a free rugby league clinic for local children and young people.
Supported by IGA Merredin, fresh fruit and water will be provided during the morning tea break for all participants.
Bite Me Food Truck will also be on site throughout the event, serving warm hearty meals, coffee and other refreshments available for purchase.
Come along, get active, learn new skills and be part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations.

Monday 13 July | From 4:00pm 
Community Cooking Workshop & Film Screening

Join local Aunties for a free community cooking workshop and learn how to make a classic damper from scratch. Attendees will then enjoy their freshly baked damper served alongside a hearty kangaroo stew.
Following the workshop, attendees are invited to a special screening of Growing Up Nyima: Between Two Worlds, a powerful documentary exploring identity, culture, adulthood and belonging.
The evening will conclude with an exclusive in-person Q&A session featuring Nyima Tucker herself, providing a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about her experiences and the story behind the film.
