BILYA KAATIJIN Presented by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company
To celebrate NAIDOC this year Vic Park Community Centre (VPCC) is bringing award winning Yirra Yaakin, one of Australia’s leading First Nations performing arts organisations to Victoria Park!
Connecting stories from Nyoongar land (south-west Western Australia) to Wonguktha land (the northern Goldfields), Aotearoa (New Zealand) and the Kikuyu people of Kenya, Bilya Kaatijin teaches us about the importance of water to First Nations people around the world.
Journeying through global Dreaming stories, the show teaches its audiences about the importance of accepting others, the power of empathy and the impact of climate change to the land and the Nyoongar seasons.
This production continues Yirra Yaakin’s involvement in connecting young people & families with important cultural knowledge and stories about our region. VPCC shares Yirra Yaakin's commitment to sharing important messages of caring for country, environmental sustainability and cultural awareness and we feel incredibly lucky to welcome them to Vic Park for this unique event.
This show is lively and interactive, offering a one-off chance for families to immerse themselves in the themes in an entertaining and thought-provoking way. Check out the video link below for a short promo of what to expect!
