Lake Macquarie Council annual flag raising ceremony – 2020 COVID style
With NAIDOC Week 2020 being moved to 8-15 November due to COVID-19, many major events Lake Macquarie have been cancelled, including the popular Eastlakes at Pelican and the Westlakes at Toronto Family Fun Days. Council’s annual flag raising event will still proceed with limited numbers and by invitation only this year and with safe COVID-19 practices in place and without morning tea or a NAIDOC themed cake though. We plan to live stream the event on to Council’s Facebook page on Tuesday 10 November at 10am if you would like to tune in. If attending via the Eventbrite registration link, please allow sufficient time to park. Other ideas for this year’s NAIDOC Week could include a visit to MAC Museum of Art and Culture/yapang in Booragul has a couple of lovely cultural exhibitions on at present, a delightful café and a lovely gift shop including merchandise from authentic Aboriginal artists and bush tucker foods. For more information visit www.lakemac.com.au for MAC/yapang and Lake Mac Libraries events.

Welcome to NAIDOC.
