Alchemy of Mountains and Sea

This is an exhibition by a Chinese contemporary artist Zhang Huajie, who currently resides in Sydney. Since moving to Australia in the beginning of 2020, Zhang has been widely exposed to and deeply touched by the culture and history of the Aboriginal culture and art. By making and using the mineral pigments utilised in Australian rock art, Zhang has produced a series of abstract work that pays respect to this land and the First Nation people. This exhibition will be officially opened by the Hon Laurie Brereton, Chair of Rock Art Australia, on Thursday 24th June.
