2023 Moree NAIDOC Elders Ball

NAIDOC 2023 As part of NAIDOC Celebrations this year, Moree Plains Shire Council’s Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre (DAC) in collaboration with Pius X Aboriginal Corporation are pleased to announce the 2023 Elders Ball in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary (1953) of the first Moree Aboriginal Debutante Ball. The theme for NAIDOC week 2023 is ‘For Our Elders’ and in honour of this we are respectfully delivering this free event for the knowledge and wisdom holders of our Community. Elders have and continue to play a vital role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families of First Nations Peoples. The evening will consist of a 3-course dinner, special guest Kenneth Knox Business Manager of the National Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council , performances from YULUGI MARUMALI, Shae Duncan and her group of young superstars will perform traditional and contemporary dances for us at the event and music chosen by our Elders to dance the night away. Moree Plains Shire, Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre and Pius X Aboriginal Corporation invite all our Elders to come celebrate at 5pm 7 July 2023 and the Moree and District Services Club Auditorium.
