openshop partners with NAIDOC Week 2020

In an Australian television first, openshop has partnered with National NAIDOC during NAIDOC Week 2020 to promote and celebrate Indigenous businesses.

Channel 75’s openshop will host a special NAIDOC Week show at 1.30pm AEDT on Friday 13 November that will feature a range of diverse products from a collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses and entrepreneurs.

The show will be hosted by Jarron Andy, a proud Waanyi, Djiru, Kukuyalanji and Yindinji man from Far North Queensland and the first Indigenous TV Presenter in the Home Shopping Industry in Australia.

National NAIDOC Co-Chairs Pat Thompson and John Paul Janke warmly welcomed the partnership, acknowledging the historic opportunity for Indigenous businesses to gain wider national exposure.

“NAIDOC Week is about celebrating our excellence, and this is a perfect way to acknowledge excellence in business and also support and showcase our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.” they said.

“It’s even more significant this year because of the huge impact that COVID-19 has had on many of our businesses and we sincerely thank openshop for their commitment to Indigenous businesses and to NAIDOC Week.”

James Kim, Director of Broadcasting at openshop said ‘It is truly an honour for openshop to be able to shine a spotlight on these proud, diverse, authentic and uniquely Australian businesses’.

Watch openshop’s NAIDOC show at 1.30pm AEDT on Friday 13 November on Channel 75, via the openshop App or on Openshop's website.
