Mr. Brenton Woods
Brenton Woods is an Anmatyerr man from Ti Tree, raised in Mparntwe/Alice Springs. Strong in his culture, Brenton is motivated by the belief that young mob need to see themselves represented in the world around them to understand what’s possible.
Despite not going to school for several years, Brenton made the decision to return and complete Years 10-12, setting a new direction for himself. In 2024, he joined CAAMA as an Audio Engineer Trainee and has since grown into a leadership role as Radio Coordinator.
Through his work, Brenton is passionate about creating space for young mob especially in remote communities, to see themselves in the media they consume and to share their stories in their own way. His work supports people to tell their own stories, everyday stories of life, culture and identity across the desert rather than having those stories told by others. He also plays an important role in making information accessible, connecting communities through interviews and sharing news both to and from remote areas via radio.
Brenton leads by example. His journey into employment and media shows other mob what’s possible. He is opening pathways for his peers and past schoolmates to step into work, build confidence, and see themselves in jobs, leadership and creative industries. He continues to advocate for media education in Central Australia, helping build a stronger, locally led media future.
Grounded in culture and driven by purpose, Brenton is proud to wear the CAAMA shirt each and every day. He remains committed to creating environments where the next generation can see and hear themselves.
