Masepah Banu
Masepah Banu (Mas) is a distinguished individual with a diverse and significant connection to both his Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. As a Malu Kiwai Boigu and Mua Islander from Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islands), he acknowledges his Aboriginal roots from the Taepithiggi Nation of Mapoon, located in the western part of Cape York Peninsula.
His career has been marked by a strong commitment to Indigenous Affairs and community consultation. Notably, he has contributed to the NSW Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations (CAPO), and the Office of Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). His leadership roles include serving as the Chairperson for the ACT Torres Strait Islander Corporation and as a Member of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body.
Mas represented his people at a national level, holding the position of Director and Delegate to the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples. His current role is the Office Manager to the Queensland Indigenous Business Network (QIBN), and his work extends into the energy sector as part of the First Nations Clean Energy Network. Additionally, he serves as a Cultural Tutor to NAISDA, where he supports the next generation of cultural leaders and artists.
Through these roles, he has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to advancing the rights, representation, and cultural integrity of Indigenous communities, while fostering greater engagement and understanding across Australia.
