Nominations are now open for membership on the National NAIDOC Committee.

The National NAIDOC Committee makes key decisions on National NAIDOC activities each year including the focus city, the theme, the National NAIDOC Poster Competition winner and the National NAIDOC award recipients.

National NAIDOC Committee Co-chairs Anne Martin and Benjamin Mitchell are inviting suitable applicants to apply.

“Membership on the committee is three years and in that time we get to meet some really inspirational artists, scholars, sportspeople, elders, community members and so much more. I encourage those with a passion for NAIDOC to submit an application,” Ms Martin said.

“It is such an honour to be part of the National NAIDOC Committee and to highlight the achievements of so many well deserving individuals each year,” Mr Mitchell said.

Membership on the National NAIDOC Committee requires substantial commitment, including willingness to travel to attend committee meetings on weekends.

Membership on the NNC is voluntary and no remuneration is provided for the position however travel and accommodation is provided.

Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

Successful applicants will commence duties in December 2014.
