Songlines are cultural webs of memory, intricate maps in the mind of country. Like multiple weblinks, the songlines carry spiritual, ecological, economic and cultural knowledge between peoples across Australia, creating an Aboriginal voice map of country.
This country is alive with ‘songlines’ criss-crossing the vast deserts and green coastlands. It has been sung into being in the beginning and continues to be sung today.
From 27 June to 9 July, in line with NAIDOC’s theme of ‘the living narrative of our Nation’, Tandanya’s celebration will comprise an exhibition bringing
The Event starts with a gathering of students from local schools and the community ready for a march to Warland Reserve where we will officiate the Flag Raising Ceremony with a Welcome to Country then onto the Tram Barn next to the Whale Centre, where there will be displays of Bush Plants, Ngarindjeri language, basket weaving, craft activities, Free entry to the Whale Centre to look at the new Aboriginal Mural, Stories in Kondoli the Whale, Free Lunch and Entertainment. Finishing at 2pm. All Welcome.
The 2016 NAIDOC SA Ecumenical Church Service will kick start the SA NAIDOC Week celebrations on Sunday evening at 6.00pm. All community members are welcome to attend.
BBQ & get together
Beginning with a march down Beach Road, congregating in at the market grounds (126 Beach Road – next door to Coles) at 10am. The march will be down Beach Road with the support of SAPOL facilitating a rolling stoppage.
The march concluding with the family day at Rotary Park (bottom of Beach Road) until 2pm.
Free BBQ, family activities, live entertainment.
NAIDOC Week 2016 will run from the 3 - 10 July and is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait people. Join us in Strathalbyn for this special event, which will feature a Welcome to Country, music, weaving workshops, storytelling, a film screening and an exhibition.

Celebrate NAIDOC Week at Warriparinga on Thursday 7 July from 11.00am to 3.00pm.
Kids entertainment, live music - Kineman Karma Band, didgeridoo competition, service provider stalls, food stalls, cultural tour, contemporary native food cooking demo, environmental stalls and much more!
Didgeridoo competition will run on the main stage - 1st prize is a Didgeribone! Free to enter competition - BYO didge along.

The NAIDOC SA Ball will be held on Saturday 9 July at the Hilton Hotel in Adelaide.
We would like to announce that multi award winning country artist Troy Cassar-Daley will be our headline act in Adelaide on July 9 2016. Troy Cassar-Daley has a reputation amongst his peers in the Australian music industry as being the most loved and respected singer/songwriter in country music.
