Kimaree Maynard - Apprentice of the Year
A 22 year old South Australian has won this years Apprentice of the Year award.
Kimaree Maynard has just completed her one year traineeship in Multimedia at Tandanya – National Aboriginal Cultural Institute in Adelaide.
She is the first Indigenous trainee in South Australia to have completed this certificate and is set to establish a career of her own in developing websites for corporate Australia.
Kimaree successfully completed her traineeship while studying visual arts at Taoundi College.
Not only that, Kimaree is a part-time carer for her mother and siblings, making her achievement even more remarkable.
Through her traineeship Kimaree became involved in the organising committee for Blak Nite, the Indigenous youth event for this year’s Come Out Festival.
Kimaree Maynard is a young Indigenous woman with a strong and bright future ahead of her.
